got followed by the police today. wasn't doing anything wrong (to my knowledge) and it wounldn't have bothered me if it were not the maner in which he was following me.
i was out looking for a fencing place and i went up and down the same road a few times and quite slowly. each pass of the road i passed a police patrol car (just your standard 5door astra)
i eventually found the place to find it was closed so i went on my merry way passed the patrol car again.
perhaps this rasied suspitions
so i was happily driving alone at the speed limit when the police car came flying up behind me.
easily double the 30 limit by the time he caught up with and he had to really hammer the brakes to stop in time once he caught up with me.
now this was quite a built up area with young kids etc on the pavment parked cars on both sides of the roads.
now surely he was clearly breaking all rules by NOT having his lights and sirens on. if he wanted to catch up with me that badly surely this should have been standard procedure. If nothig else to warn pedestians and other road users of his excessive speed.
any how for the next mile or so he stuck right on my back bumper to the point i couldn't see his head lights.
The road then went to a national limit.
still he insteaded on sticking right on my back bumper. even on the straight sections where we were doing 60MPH.
i realy don't know what he was trying to achive??
intimidation into speeding off or making a mistake???? or just making sure i didn't break the speed limit or drive danergous?? (a bit hypercritcal don't you think)
Even if he was in a hurry he could have easily over taken me.
after about ten miles of being very closly followed we came to a roundabout and he stopped following me. Gaining nothing but disrespect
Perhaps i was supposed to be intimedated and pulled over for him. there where a few places i could of pulled into but i'm not the sort of person to be intimedated off the road by anyone.
being followed by the police doesn't bother me, i have nothing to hide
being pulled over doesn't bother me either again it shows they are doing there job.
but the police using their powers to endanger the life of the public is out of order
This the only time in my driving life i have had a bad experience with the police. i just wish i had got his number plate to report him for dangous driving. if i had driven like behind a police car i would easily be looking at a dangous driving charge.
and there was me a few months ago praising the sheffied traffic cops (although he wasn't a traffic cop i suppose)
