    central locking button on dash

my mk3 has an aftermarket alarm with an anti-hijack feature, which activates the central locking when you turn the ignition on. Now thats all well and good, but if I'm pulling up to the side of the road to pick a mate up or something, I'm too damn lazy to reach and pull the door pin up. Then of course I'd have to push it down again to reactivate it.

so what I was thinking, was wiring in a switch on the dash like a lot of car have that would lock/unlock the doors at the push of a button

has anyone done this? any help on wiring it in?

I'm looking at a simple push button to do the job if it makes any difference...

A single push button would only lock or unlock it depending on which circuit you have it wired to, it won't be able to do both

Get a 2 way rocker switch and then it's possible

ok, so say I get a 2 way rocker, where/how do I wire it into the circuit? do I wire it into the original door loom, or to the alarm?

If you get a 2 way rocker switch there will be 3 pins on it, the common one will do to earth then the lock wire's brown/red and the unlock's brown/white. Best place to pick these up is the drivers kickpanel and there's no need to go to the alarm. It must be a momentary switch that returns to the centre when not pressed

cool, cheers Andy. Best I go looking for two way momentary rocker switches either in yellow or in black with a yellow LED

any suggestions? fairly narrow search criteria and maplins hasn't thrown up anything, and I don't want to buy 12 at a time off ebay

have to see what I can sort out. not overly confident in my ability to dismantle an elec window switch without destroying it completely though

Do you have central locking, if so just pull up drivers side button to unlock car.
    I fitted a C5T2 to my astra mk3.
Another option is the key fob as this will as said cycle between lock and unlock.
