Post Meet VXR's racing driver of the year

    John Allison.

Back in June, working as a Mortgage Consultant in Beverley, John never dreamed he'd have the opportunity to drive a race-prepared Astra VXR in the 2008 Dunlop Sport Maxx Cup!

10,000 hopefuls and a hard-fought seven months of intense competition have finally produced our VXR Racing Driver of the Year. John has definitely proved he's VXR enough.

John stepped up a gear and fought his way through the semi-finals and into Race Camp along with 11 other talented drivers. Expecting 3 days of overseas training ahead of them, our elite group were soon brought down to earth when they met Lance Corporal Dave Watson, who ferried them to a Territorial Army Camp in Bedford for days of gruelling fitness tests and searching examinations of their racing ability.

You can get up to speed with the rigours of the Race Camp and check out profiles, footage and shots of the talented 12 here.

Watch as Matt Neal and I oversee their progress as they push themselves to the limit on and off the track when Race Camp is aired on ITV4. Check out the website for more details.

For the record its not me I didn't win it (They screwed up and didn't give me a date to go to the karting). As far as I'm aware he's not an AOC member yet either.

Its the driver below John Allison.
