    Gasket for EGR valve

    Hi all,
Once i get all the bits & pieces i need, i will be cleaning the TB, changing the ICV & cleaning the EGR valve, i have read in the how to guides for the EGR valve that you would need a new gasket, where can i get a new gasket from & how much are they? & also the torx bit t30 & torx socket e12?.
Also, how much time should i allow myself to do this & is there any other information i will need for doing these jobs?
    Any help much appreciated.

You can get the gaskets from the part Dept.

Depending on what engine you have you can also get them to program the ECU not to look for the EGR and buy a blanking plate from Vauxhall

I seriously wouldnt bother changing the EGR gasket seeing as ur just cleaning the thing.

You'll know once the part has been cleaned if its resolved ur running issues (if any) or not.

If then, u need to source a replacement EGR then 9/10 times a new gasket is supplied with the part...if not THEN u can go about sourcing a new one.

Just clean the EGR first together with ur other jobbies then see how things progress.

Replacing the gasket is just one of those things ppl advise to do...a bit like fitting new gasket & springs/bolts on exhaust parts - more often than not u can get away with the old parts...

Now get cleaning and see how things go.

Seeing as u have the early X series engined X16SZR then an ECU update isnt really available (or at least not with major software updates) you're best option is to clean the EGR and if necessary replace the thing. Its there for a reason.

If u need to source a replacement then they are readily available from Vauxhall specialists on ebay.

The part number for your engine is 17200272 and a list of all the ones currently on ebay can be found here: http://search-desc.ebay.co.uk/search...=32%26fsoo%3D2
