    z16se temp sensor location

sorry guys, i've looked through the forum, found a few hints but no definitive answer and the haynes just has an arrow pointing vuagely to the left hand side of the engine bay, but my dad is trying to change the coolant temp sensor on his 1.6 16v Y reg estate (z16se i believe) but cant find the sensor, i read it was near the timing belt cover, the haynes recons its behind the altenator and we need a ramp to get at it, can anyone give me a bit of help at getting to it? is it near or under the timing belt cover?
    thanks guys
    :-)

First of all youll need to establish which engine it is...

    The Z16SE was an 8v model..... the 16v variants were X16XEL & Z16XE

If its the 16v then the engine will look like this - CTS on side of block next to thermostat housing

If its the 8v engine (ie the Z16SE) Then the engine will look like this (and the CTS is indeed behind the engine on the intake manifold up by the alternator)

cts on the z16se is just below the coil pack having done the job myself recently.

Can be done with the coolant in, as long as you are quick!
