    broken timing belt!!

hello! does anyone know if a broken timing belt definatly means damage to the cylinder head in a X16XEL engine? i know in some cars there is enough clearance to allow you to get away with it but not sure with this engine!

unfortunately its only the 8v engines which are non-interference.....

when should the cambelt get changed on these 1.6, 1.8 engine anyways?

mines done 70K with no record of it being changed?

also do the water pump need changing with the belt?

Check your handbook, but its probably 40k, same as the 2.0T.
Get it done ASAP. May as well do the pump at the same time, because if it fails a month later you need to take all the cambelt back off to replace the pump.
