    just lookin at autotrader website and seen 53plate arden blue gsi for 5495, thinking about getting one but my mate says stay clear cos the 103000 miles its done is a lot for this type of car?

    Yes that is alot of miles for the age, mine is on half of that

    check for FSH, belts, turbo etc. High milage dosen't mean its for nothing

    just a puppy, mine is an 05 plate and 92k and is fine.... well apart from the clutch, 3rd turbo, disks all round, clunk from front......

    If it test drives ok I would not worry about it. You may find receipts for some of the major parts recently. If not and it is a bit of a dog spend a few quid on it and you have a really cheap newish monster in the making

    Apart from a bit of stone chipping and seat bolster wear, mileage doesn't really tell you much about a car. I would sooner have a 100k car which has a full service history and spent it's life on the motorway at 70mph than one with 40k which has only been used for town driving, has car park dents galore and kerbed to bits wheels.

    I wouldn't discount it because of the mileage, there are bargains to be had. But check over it very carefully.
