Discovered oil in the spark plugs today

I went out to get a new tool kit so I could clean the throttle body, the EGR and the ICV (couldnt find ICV on an X18XE1?) and thought I'd try and find out whats causing the poor performance in my car. Anyway I took out two of the spark plugs to find oil on them, I also noticed once I took the coilpack off there was quite a bit of oil in the left corner.

What could be causing the oil to get in there? I don't think it's the head gasket as my coolant is fine and theres no mayo on the oil cap.

I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to knowing which parts would have to be faulty to let oil in there so if anyone could shed some light on this, that'd be helpful thanks

wet oily deposits on the spark plugs firing end are a sign of an ignition system problem. Do you mean the exposed ceramic bit or the tip ?

Cam cover gasket leaking oil into the plug holes, remove the cam cover and fit a new gasket to it. Should sort your problem out
