Unsure whether you can remap your 2.0 DTi? Heres How!

Just been looking on ebay and there is a tuning company offering remaps... according to them the way to check whether it has the hybrid ECU or not is....

'Not to sure if your bosch or delco? Lock your wheels to the right, then look under the front passenger inner plastic wing liner, if you see a silver box with wire coming out this is a Bosch ecu and can be remapped to 138bhp'

Sorry if this is re-post but havent seen this before! Will check mine after uni... hope i can get it remapped

Can be confusing if your car is in the cross over period. But general rule of thumb is anything previous to 2002 can be mapped. Anything later than 2002 cant be remapped.

This engine can be done: ( I have seen 2 of these done)

This engine cant be remapped so they say.. (my mate has this type and was told it cant be done)

That's rubbish. All 2.0DTi have Bosch ECU, it's part of the injection pump.

They're confused with the 1.7DTi which can be Bosch/Delco.

I spoke to them today and they told me that its all to do with the ECU which is down in the front bumper. This can either be bosch or delco. They have now given me a number to look for on it, so will have a butchers today.

Mine is a dodgy one cause it was registered really early Jan 03... so it could be a hanger on with the older type ECU in (cross fingers )

I would put money on yours being one of the later types... but if it is an earlier type you can expect some decent figures. 0-60 under 9 seconds ... and good midrange performance.

I bet its a later one too... cant believe someone hasnt found a way round the hybrid ECU setup yet. If not i'll just have to do what ZS did and get the exhaust system changed out... then save up for a MK5 1.9 CDTi 150

    Tuning 2.0 DTi

I have an Astra G with 2.0 DTi engine that is registered on a 53 but according to the cars records which mechanics look at when they scan them is down as being built in 2004!!

I tried to get the engine re-mapped but they couldn't do it, so I had a 'tunit' installed which is great, 0-62 in around 8.5 seconds now....also got the air filter changed for a K&N free flow one. It quite happily keeps up with the likes of Mini Cooper Sports now, compared it too a neighbours 150bhp BMW 3 series compact TDi and they are pretty evenly matched....not bad from an original BHP of 101.

Whats a "tunit" mate? And what increase in power and torque does it give?

Went here and they have local installers http://www.tunit.co.uk/ dropped my car in for a couple of hours while they fitted it and away you go did my airfilter at the same time....once it's installed you settings 0-9, zero is off and 9 is full power ....its knocking somewhere around 135-140 bhp now with the air filter...torque went up by about 25% as well from what the graphs in the garage showed.
