    BBS wheels... thoughts...

...what do you reckon to this?

Mocked up a little photoshop of the mk3, as I found a set of BS alloys in 4 stud fitment at a decent price (i.e. ridiculously cheap )... no other mods in this picture, just the wheels by the way so the Photoshop is almost exactly how it'd look...

They're only 16s (which I'm happy about as the tyres will be cheaper when they need replacing!) but with my current 40mm drop I don't think they look too bad... what does anyone else think?

on top of that, I took it a little bit further...

smoothed door handles & side repeaters, rear doors flushed & front doors blended in more to reduce panel gap, oh and a "bit" more lowering

thoughts on this pic as well would be good

16" tyres are usually more expensive than 17" due to the odd size !

Looks better than the pony on there at the moment, but still room for improvement imo

wheels look good on that. would look even better if you went through with the second version.

You just want a nice stretch on the tyres

Looks ok, but would be better if there were bigger than 16"s IMO

The wheels are too small and the tyres will be at least as much as 17s.

The handle removal may look ok on the rear doors only (Alfa 156 style).

I suggest that you stick to some cheaper options such as a GSi body kit, some lowering springs and a nice set of 17s.
Tell me what you've done, not what you're going to!

    Remove the bump strips,
colour code the door handles an wing mirrors.
Find some 17" wheels, 16s are too small for a MK3. + as previously said tyres are usually dearer than for 17s.

If it was me I would get them, firsly they are rare wheels only really fitted on the Calibra DTM 2.0 16v in 4-stud application.

The VW, Nova and Cprsa owners go mad for them.

ON the Calibra they are fitted with 205/50/16 tyres which are the same as the Mk4 Astra, so I don't think they would look silly fitted. If they have come off a Mk3, or Corsa/Nova then they may have 195 or 205/45/16's fitted.

cheers for the comments guys, much appreciated

not too sure I want to go down the GSi bodykit route, although I may go for the spoiler. going to keep with the current -40mm springs/shocks certainly until they're either knackered or the car comes offroad follwing my next car purchase (so either way it'l be a while )

as for wheels, I guess it just depends what comes up for the money, these BBS wheels are currently up for £200 with 4 brand new tyres, however a bit of negotiating has seen a potential deal struck for £25 plus my centre console - so can't really complain at that I think I'm going to have to search round and look for different wheels before deciding, as mytyres.co.uk show there's not a great deal of difference between 16/17" tyres, the 17s are a few quid more but not a great deal. Just a case of finding the right design at the right price

whatws the consensus on the design? or would I be better off looking at something a little more "traditional" perhaps?

    keep the comments coming please
