    Damaged ASTRA G series

I'm a newbie, so hope this is in the right place. My son unfortunately wrecked his Astra G year 2000 on a V plate yesterday. He's OK, but I think the car is beyond economic repair, both front wings, bonnet, radiator etc destroyed, wheel tracking gone and suspension is bent. No damage to windscreen or anything back of that, so doors shut cleanly etc. With this forum's wealth of experience, what type of value has this car got now in the salvage/repair industry? and to who do I sell it. (Or is it an ebay job). It was third party f&t insured, so won't go on the register and was in splendid condition before yesterday! Any help/links would be appreciated.

    firstly.. welcome to the site.

fire it up in the whats it worth section.

if you fire up some pictures of the car it will give a better idea of the damage etc.

if the damage is not as bad as you think why not try repair it?

insurance companys have a habbit of scrapping cars for almost nothing now a days too.

I would potentially be interested in the interior if a 3 door sport/sxi/sri?

Did the airbags go off? I am in need of a passenger unit.

    Where are you located also?

    Thanks

    James C

Well thanks for the warm welcome, and I must congratulate you for a well run site.
In answer to some of your queries:
    Astra G 'V' reg, 10/02/2000 registered
    LS 16V 5 door hatchback
    1398cc
    MOT till 30/10/2008
    Mileage circa 57k
    Burgundy Red
    Former keepers 4
Was in vg condition before incident. None smoker.
I do not want to break it, it goes as a whole entity.
Currently rolls, engine turns over, but it is catching something. Will investigate further.
Will post up photos tomorrow (how do you do this on this forum?)

Forgot, the air bags did not go off, the nose was shaved off as it was struck on the offside front corner first. Car is currently in my garden in the Hope Valley, Peak District S33.

sounds to me like a fairly cheap repair to be honest - especially if theres no inner wing damage and to the suspension towers etc.

theres an excellent vauxhall breakers in sheffield so not too far - ive used them a few times and easy to find. You could pick up suspension, wings, bonnet, bumper etc - even rad (altho can be cheap new if u shop around - I just bought a brand new rad for £45 off ebay)

as for posting up pics then best off u register on imageshack or photobucket - host the images there then copy and paste the link onto here and we can see
