How long does it take you to get to work?

I've been offered the chance to go and work in the Oxford office taking on more of a 3D modelling role. There is (obviously) talk of some form of compensation for the long journey to work (petrol and time-wise). I'd hope there's also a bit of extra pay due to taking on more responsibilities which would be nice (although I'm still in the consideration phase so none of this has been negotiated yet).

Anyway, it'll be a 2 hour drive and I was wondering how far other people have to travel on a daily basis.

About 10mins for me to get to my van, then spend most the day traveling hehe. I did some work experience/cover in Coventry for about 2 months, that was about 40mins travel and got bloody annoying after a while lol

Less the 30 minutes (about 15 minutes) now that I cycle

I don't think I could travel for more than a hour to go to work

mine varies some days 3 hours + other days 5 mins around the corner. I do work in different places each day though.

I have 3 friends that commute to london or just out side every day, and one that goes to Manchester 3 days a week (to the office). They all do with traffic about 2 hours commute. They personally dont mind it but then its down to you.

I would consider (if the job was yours and good enough) - moving nearer to the job or finding a flat or house share in the area for the odd night in the week then home weekends.

It all depends on how good the job is and how much you want it.

up until a month ago was a 3-4 minute walk, now a 20-30 drive maybe slightly longer depending on traffic,

i would hate having a long commute, have to weigh up the priorties in you mind tho, sometimes going further even for less money is worth it if you enjoy it more or has better prospects tho, same as sometimes working closer for less money might be better if it gives yo a better quality of life,
