    Hypothetical Insurance scamish

    If ...

A friend had a collision in his fiat punto crashing into the back of someone causing damage only to his car ... but he still wants to claim on his fully comp insurance to fix his damage ... could I ring up and say he drove into me?

I don't really get it.. What's stopping him from telling the truth? It doesn't matter who he went into, he can claim on his own policy any time.

why would he need to say he crashed into anyone? he is fully comp so regardless of who/what/if he hit something, he would still be at fault and would be liable for his excess.. saying its you he hit would be misrepresenting the truth, he may as well say he hit another car and they had no damage so they don't want to claim.

EDIT - beaten to it ^^

As Sten said, he can still claim anyway. Doesn't matter about the other person unless the other car was damaged.
    I'm after another Coupe Turbo

then you'd be a tit because you'd be commiting fraud and you just admitted it on a public forum

really, when will people learn, the whole world can see this

AOC does not condone insurance fraud any more or less than it condones reckless/illegal behaviour in any other manner. if you have front end damage that you want the insurers to fix, then claim off your own insurance FFS. if the cost of losing NCB outweights the cost of getting the repair done privately, then don't go through insurers. simple.

what do you need repairing on your car? I'll bet you'll be surprised how cheap it can be to repair if you shop round and look in the right places for parts I rebuilt the whole back end of my first car (which I bought as an unrecorded damaged vehicle) for under £300, when a bodyshop said it'd need £2k worth of work

Even if you hit a wall, you can still claim on your insurance.

It's an accident....you dont always have to report accidents to police...
e.g. if it was your wall, no damage to anything public .
