    thinkin of going 18s

    will 7.5x18 et35 with 215/35/18 or 225/40/18 tyres be alrite to fit a mk4 1.6 with 4 stud

wat will the ride be like, will the wheels be too heavy for the car. i no i will lose turning circle. just wonderin if the steerin wheel will vibrate at high speeds or any other issues. just want to make sure before i really consider buyin some hopefully in the next few weeks

    I have a 7.5x18 in a 5 stud on my Mk4 coupe Turbo. running with 215/35/ZR18's.

There is no clearance issues with the std suspension. The ride is very hard though...

Im also running an ET35 but 8x18, u will have to run 215/35/18 & no you wont loose your turning circle. As for weight 18's are fine & very common on mk4's. As long as you get wheels balanced you wont get any vibrations.

My car is lowered 60mm all round, handles like a dream with the wide offset. Cheers Babs

I have 18x7.5 and 215/35 with eibach prokit, you will feel the street, no problems with steering wheel, check the weight of the wheels, more than 22-23lb, is a heavy wheel and I think you will lose performance or power.

Check out my silver hatch (do a search in my threads).

    That had 18's with 7.5x18 et35 with 215/35/18
Fit like a glove, handling was fine and no rubbling whatsoever
    I'm after another Coupe Turbo

ET35 is a little (and i mean very little) on the low side for 7.5J rims - just means you wont be able to slam it on its arse like say a 38+ offset.

If u just plan on goin down 40mm then ur not gonna have any real problems.

Stick with 215/35/18 as 225 rubber is just too big . The aspect ratio of the sidewall (ie the 40 number) will make it rub even earlier combined with the lower offset.

Get the wheels professionally balanced - i always watch the guy doin it so u know its done properly. Good tyres are a must also... I use Avon ZZ3s as they are a good price (I pay £290 for all 4 delivered off ebay)

Just make sure u get the correct stud pattern... ie 4x100mm and the correct spigot rings (ie reducing rings that bring the centre bore down from the generic machined size to the 56.6mm to match the size of ur hubs)

Other than that - nothing else to worry about.

Just make sure the car is lowered if not already...as it'll just look daft!

    I run 7.5 x 18s on 215.35.18 but ET40,,,check my GARAGE pics <----

I run 215 35 19's, and the ride is fine, clearance shouldnt be an issue upto 40mm (i say that with hopeful thinking as mine is getting lowered 45mm)

Yea thats fine m8, some recommend uprating shocks but standard shocks will be fine with a simple 40mm drop. Mines a 60mm drop on standard shocks & it handles perfect. Babs
