    Question Front door speakers/tweeters

    Hey
On my old Mark 3 I put in new door speakers, when i connected these and the new cd player (at the same time) the tweeters stopped working.
the cd player is now in my Mark 4 and the tweeters work!! i Do want to upgrade the speakers but not the tweeters and am wondering if the tweeters will still work if i am to do this!?
    Thanks in advance

    John

If you straight replace the door speakers with coax speakers your tweeters will work however the tweeters in the middle of your coax won't be as effective. Best bet is a new set of component speakers and to replace the tweeters, it's not difficult to replace the tweeters and most component systems come with a cross-over box to split the signal.

Yes you can use the existing wiring into the cross over box and from their you have to run your own cables to woofer and tweeter.

All brands will be just the same fitting from one to another.

Well I quite fancy these, but more questions.... Will I need adapters at all and will i still be able to put the tweeters hidden behind the mirror thingy or will i have to cut it up a bit????

Yes those will be fine, i've ordered from that company and they're really good.
You will need adapters, SAK 2902 or something along those lines i think.
And tweeters usually you can remove old ones and "stick" the new ones in place without cutting, just make sure you tape up the wires otherwise they'll rattle.

mate mate!! dont buy these, trust me as i did and they are no where as good as std. they cost 35-39? adaptor 20 delivered? i recomend these mate.

    http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/pion...ll-p-5914.html

they are made for your car, fit straight in. if they are too much, i would say stick with std's mate. it takes a good speaker to replace them. i paid out 100 on some rainbows and it was barely worth it, be ok if i amped them tho.

as i said dont buy them, the tweeters give up earlier than std and the bass is poor compared to std's

please stay clear of the Alpine SXE's, they just aren't worht the money over the standard speakers. head down somewhere you can acatually listen to the speakers, even if you buy them elsewhere so they're cheaper. you wouldn't buy clothes "blind", so why buy speakers "deaf"?

good point pete. but i think £50 or more is needed to buy better, unless you get an eaby deal?

cheers guys!! what it is is that i miss the bass from my old sub, and the stds rattle like mad (sure theres a prob with the passenger one just like every single car ive ever had)
anyway, want to replace them, 89 aint too much, just means waiting longer which im not going to complain about!!!
But need a boot now so sub is not an option...
