    Smile Off to buy...

Off to buy my first astra tomorrow! Exciting times.

    Green 2000 (V) Astra 1.6 16v CD -

looks good from the pictures, but is there anything specific i should be looking out for, fault wise....apart from the dodgy wood surround and gear knob ^.^
    Cheers

    Dave

hey, i would just look out for the obvious things. Cream in the oil, check it has anti freeze in. oil leaks. I say this cos i bought my 1.6 16v sport 1999 v reg astra and it had no anti freeze, a oil leak, and me gasket blew. Still leaking oil 4 month later. av changed the oil seals, filter, rocket cover gasket (twice) gasket. haha still leaking oil so defently check these

It depends what engine it has inside.

Any common faults with the Z16XE engine are repairable for under £100 anyway. Just make sure the cambelt has been done at 40/80/120K

I got a black/silver vauxhall one for £15, for the price of paint and hassle of rubbing the damn thing down, i'd suggest buying one!

I take it you've bought it then? Piccies!
