    Removing Tyres

Is it possible to remove tyres without wrecking them yourself?

I want to start refurbing mine, and dont fancy paying the £10 each per tyre to get them removed or whatever it costs.

Failing that, can I deflate them enough to put masking tape around them?

    Cheers

i would imagine you could mask them up if they were flat but you wouldnt be able to remove them, some tyre place near you will remove them for next to nothing prob a tenner for all 4, just offer them the money before askin or say would you do it for... works for me :P

Pop down to Worthing on Saturday and i'll remove all 4 for a fiver
Seriously, you need to get the bead off the rim if your going to get them refurbed and you won't do that without a machine, as said, go into your local tyre places and ask one of the fitters to do it for a beer in his luch etc

It is possible to remove them yourself but its a bit of a bitch

You need to first bead off, and without the correct hand tools you'll damge the rim

if u take them to a tyre place they will only charge about a tenner to just remove the tyres for ya, i refirbished some alloys before all i did was let the tyre down and used a pribar to lever the front of the tyre back about an inch all the way round, masked it off did all the sanding/spraying and then after jsut inflated the tyre and it poped back on all the way round, job done
