    my new prezzy dilema!

for a few months i have been looking to buy a DivX player for the car, just something to make sitting in traffic more interesting! haha

so i finally saved the pennies to buy one.

got it and as soon as i opend it i thought....hmmmmmmmmmm this is going to be interesting.

now im not one for things that stick out like a soar thumb, when it comes to my car, espec in the inside so when i fitted the stereo and found this i was..

well lets just say, i mumbled a few nasty words for about 20 mins or so..

now i don't really wanna start hacking my dash to bits hear so what the hell to do? I did think i would mod the surround but still don't think it would give enough clearance to have it sit flush on dash tho.

i was really looking forward to fitting this but the way im feeling about it now is i want to sell it and just try get my money back for it.(im already down a bit to get it posted to me in first place!)

what is peoples suggestions on this one?

yeah but it would cost me quite a bit.

according to the guy i is a universal fit and looks good in any dash, but he says going by that picture it fits!

if i wish a refund then i have to send it back witch will cost me £15 then they will test it (?) and if its not faulty, which it isnt because it is brand new and works perfect! just dont FIT! they will charge me a further £30 admin fee.

so all in all it would have cost me around £60 plus the cost of the unit in the first place just to get a fraction of my money back.

    not too happy.

i know other users on AOC have same type fitted but i think they have cut dash up to fit it tho.

it'll be a little bit of work, but if you've got a spare console what about fitting that and trying to open the DIN slot up a little bit and fit some tabs to move the whole unit further inside the dash? once you've got it in the right place in the practise console, take the measurements and do it to your silver one, and it'll fit fine.

If its a DIN stereo it should fit.

Are you sure its not just hitting on wires. If not the other bit it will be hitting on is the plastic heater tubes which you can warm up and push on to mould them out the way.

Could also try it in the top din sllot (Where the stereo normally is) as there is more room behind.

its nothing to do with clearence at the rear m8ty. dunno if you cab see in the pic but its higher than a standard radio fitmant. main body is standard din size but face is bigger. i need to remove abou 20mm of dash at bottom to get it to fit and also move the clips back about 10mm so it sits flush with dash

    looking for ideas now people.

looks like i have got a spare dash onits way next week.
so far i have come up with poss blending in my gauge holder to either the top or bottom din slot, and modding the other slot to take the radio.

but now i have had another "strange but true" moment of an idea.

in my coupe i have a din slot in the glove box, so what about fitting the radio in there and getting two sun visor screens connected to radio unit. and doing something diff the dash?
