Depends what they're wanting to do with the laptop.

If all they're after is some dabbling around on the net, few documents, maybe messing with some photo's, then it's fine.

If they want to run the latest games and produce 3D models, then it's a no go.

I'd imagine it'd be fine for what they're after

yep just for internet and putting music onto an MP3 player.

    Its a 24 month contract
It also seems that you have to have AOL talk - landline or mobile though? His mother is with virgin phone, TV and TV so would that cause problems?

    yeah, most likely.

I don't know much about AOL because I can't stand them or the service they provide but I'd imagine it's the same as the packages you get from Vodafone/Talk Talk etc.

You need to subscribe to them with your landline and pay them the monthly charges/call charges instead of BT.

And at a 24 month contract that it svery difficult to break out of, too!
But, if they don't have any special requirements and as long as they check the tariffs for calls and all small print, there shouldn't be a problem.

    My thoughts:

Laptop - perfect for what their needs are
Terms and Conditions - bit of a piss take (but I hate AOL remember )
