    oil leak astra mk4

    hello,

    i have a 1.8 astra with z18xe1 engine.
as you all know, the oil filter in my car is a "internal" oil filter.
i suspect that there is a leak between the housing of the filter and the engine block. is there an o ring on it that can be replaced?
also i would like to replace the o ring of the oil sump. i have basic tools. somthing else i might need?

If you have the paper style filter in the metal housing then yes there is a seal between this and the block, the housing is held on by an allen key bolt, these do come loose so check this first, as for the sump bung o-ring, you will require a 45 torx bit to undo the bung, i would get both seals from vx ready for the job, won't be expensive and you'll know you have the correct bits too
