    80k service

    Morning All,

Does anyone know what is required on the 80k mile service? Mine is due in the next couple of months, so just wanted to get an idea of what will be required.

    Car is a 2002 1.6 16v SXI.

    Cheers,

    Matt

    Cool, thanks for the info.

oil & filter, air filter, fuel filter, pollen filter, spark plugs get done every year anyway, as they come in the service pack I buy off ebay.

Is much labour involved with a cambelt/water pump?

How often should brake fluid be changed mate? Also how often does the coolant need done? I know every 5k is recommened for an oil change but say i pay a garage every 6 months to service mine is that ok for the engine? Its just i want to keep the book stamped.

I gave up getting the book stamped when the warrenty ran out.

I think I'm still running the original coolant, and the car is nearly 6 year old.....I take it this should also be replaced at the next service?

Brake fluid should be changed every two years
Anti-freeze is a personal opinion these days as the new types are supposed to last longer and not need changing reguarly, i change mine every 2-3 years, but i am fussy
As for oil changes, if your using a semi synth then changing it at 5-6000 miles is fine, i use fully synth and change it at 10,000 miles, peoples opinions will be different on this, but thats mine

Difference between fully synthetic and semi synthetic is down to the properties in the oil, there is a much more technical explanation, but basically fully synthetic is a superior oil over semi synthetic, it is also more expensive, not saying that semi synth is no good, the only reason i use fully synth in mine is because i get it free at work !!
High performance vehicles ( turbo's etc ) are supposed to benefit more from using fully synth, but as long as you change your oil reguarly and use a decent brand your'll be fine
Vauxhalls own fully or semi synthetic oils are very popular and aren't expensive either, these are the types i use on my car and customers cars

So can fully synth still be uses on less powerfull cars such as a 1.8 coupe? Its just im going to keep a full service history on mine and i cant afford to do it every 5 thousand miles.
