Best tip I can give you is

visit www.w3schools.com to learn, http://www.design.ersblock.com for help and for quick clean fast code use the humble text editor (notpad on winblows, text editor on linux)

and buy a copy of css mastery http://www.amazon.co.uk/CSS-Mastery-...0081342&sr=8-1

best css book on the market.

Depends on how mad you wanna go Steve. I purchased HTML for dummies and it goes through CSS and is very easy to understand and use and it doesn't make you feel like a berk reading it either.

I believe the local librarys carry the 'for dummies' range especially web design so maybe worth getting it out and having a good mooch through.

HTML for dummies is available in abundance on eBay mate, pretty cheap too as a few people buy it and then get lost

If its just a basic website you want, what about using something like MS Publisher, you can create it and then Publisher will convert it into uploadable format.
    NOW - Sapphire Black 3dr Astra G

    THEN - Glacier White 2.0Di Estate - 136bhp 1.6 Pineapple Yellow Mk3 - Flame Red 2.0Di Van - Chianti Red 1.8 Coupe - Star Silver 2.2 Zafira - Flame Red 2.2 Linea Rossa Coupe - Titan Gold 1.8 Coupe

IMHO css mastery is far better then html for dummies but

The current standered is xhtml which from a beginners standpoint is far easer to use over html as it contains pure control code with the formatting code left to css.

I use CSS all the time for uni projects and assignments.
Best way to start is to download a template from the net (just type in CSS templates into google) and there is loads to choose from. Then just learn it from editing those.
