    Talking Astra G Mk4 2.0Sri induction kit

    Hi All Please Help !!
I would like to fit an induction kit to my new Astra G Mk4 2.0Sri,
But its all very confusing looking around at whats on offer !
But when I have looked around, All the induction kits that are available look either naff or are tooo expensive !
SO I want to have a go at making my own !!!

I would like to replace the whole intake pipe from the engine to the air flow meter and then down to the Airbox area with a polished aluminuim pipe ! Then fit a wicked looking Red k&n on the end !

I can get alu tube bent and rolled and machined for nowt ! (AT MY WORK)
Fab it and fit it my self

This is going to take time to do ! So I can't remove the one of my car coz i need it for work !
what I need from you chaps is first advice !
Will it work ? What do I need to look out for ? (I'm I just dreaming )
AND if poss I will need to borrow or cadge or buy an old full or part air intake system to copy !!
Thanks For any advice that you can Give me!!

    Welcome to the forum

Assuming you mean like fitting a cone filter on your astra that wouldnt be a good idea, you will get a lot of heatsoak from the engine bay and you preferably want cold air going into your engine

think i have saw this on here, am not sure! but they have boxed off the cone induction with a bit or metal sheet around it, well on the engine head side so the heat of the engine doesnt get to the induction kit only a thought mate!

veccy pipe and panel filter a good mod to consider, check out ffoeg's mod, he has made the intake huge by using 2 veccy intakes, and an open filter won't be good for fuel consumption, just summat to consider

No reason why you couldn't fabricate a something along the lines of a BMC CDA style coveri for a cone filter as it would so the same job, just make sure its air tight.

    This is all they are

an open style cone filter does not work very well on the X20XEV due to the underbonnet temperatures and heat soak.

The easiest and cheapest way to go is to fit the vectra c inlet pipe and de-restrict your airbox
    see here http://www.astraownersclub.com/docum...derestrict.pdf
    and here http://www.astraownersclub.com/docum...ectra-pipe.pdf
I had a K&N induction kit on mine to start with but noticed flat spots when hot, now using the above method as are many other people and it is much better, go with that
