OK so maybe this is another Clean Car thread!

    Hey guys

First of all happy new year to all!

OK so being as we're now in 2008 and finding myself with a nice free weekend(rare!) for once i decided to dig my car out from under the layers of muck that had built up through winter. The weather looked nice so i dug out my cleaning kit and purchased myself some new bits and set to!

I washed the car with two bucket method and a new Meguiars microfibre wash mit with made a huge difference to how easy it was to clean everywhere. I then got myself some Meguiars Smooth Surface Clay kit. After reading everything people had written about the effects of clay i figured i'd find out for myself. And all i can say is....WOW! You think your car is clean until you clay it! Then you really realise how much is left behind by a normal wash! Then the car recieved a good polish with AutoGlym Super Resin Polish and polishing pad. To finish off i gave it a good layer of AutoGlym Aqua Wax with a pair of microfibre cloths.

All in all i was quite pleased with the results considering i've never really had a chance to get into cleaning my car properly due to lack of time. I think it may well be a resolution for this year to start detailing my car properly more often! I know there's much better products available too but due to funding being tight i've had to use what i had about with only a few additions. I plan to get myself some better stuff as we get into the year.

Any comments of hints are most welcome

Just a quick tip, Check out the Autoglym Bumper care for the bump strips, the bumper back contains silicone, so when it rains or your car gets dirty, it runs and you end up having black marks running down the doors.
But other than that, looks really good!

Newton - Yeah it's not a bad combination of polish and wax. The Aqua Wax is pretty awesome as it comes with 2 microfibre clothes to apply it with and gives a really nice finish. But it's not on sale commercially yet though i think. I only got mine at a classic car show i went to last year from the Autoglym stand. I think you can get it online though. Yeah clay makes such a difference!

Mystery Machine - Sorry bout that, it's my dad's workhorse of a vehicle! Not a bad drive though! If you look closely though you can see the second Astra in the family tucked in the garage!

Thanks for the feedback so far guys!
