I've come accross accessories that come with different end peices to them as not all ciggy lighters are the same.

I have the same problem with my phone charger but can usually get it to stay in the right postion

Lighters contact on the side of the heated element, and accessory plugs contact on the centre pin - that's the major difference and probably will explain your problem.

So have a look in the lighter socket and see if the bottom contact is rusted/corroded in the centre - I'd wager it probably will be. If so then it'll just need cleaning up (dremel and wire brush time )

Mine doesnt work at all now. I use it regularly to charge my PDA for sat nav purposes, but a few days ago it stopped functioning all of a sudden. The LED light on the charger does not light up and the the cigarette lighter does not heat up at all. Does anyone know what I can do to fix this?

    Thanks.

This has happened to me also over the past few weeks. I don't know if it's just a loose wire or not from taking out the centre console or if it's something else.

IMHO If you gunna have permanently connected accessories.
Take the end of the plug and hard wire to the sockets wiring.
I have the same issue but as I only have the 1 device its sat on the glove box circuit.

I reckon the contacts inside have bent away ( happened to mine) all I got was no power or intermittent if I wiggled it.
Pull the socket out, press in the side contacts a bit, they'll only snap if you really go mental.

Should be a tighter fit, when it comes to accessories but while you're at it, check the wires haven't come loose and of course the fuse!
