    Y20dth - X20dtl Diferences

    Hy guys.
    I am a new member looking for some technical info on the physical differences between the X20DTL and the Y20DTH. Basically I have a knackered Y20DTH and have been offered a good X20DTL.
    I have done a little research but want to know for sure if the engine can be uprated using the pump, injectors and turbo from the Y20 engine or are there any other stumbleing blocks that would make it unworthwhile.
    Thanks for your help and a happy Xmas to all.

    You need to read the old threads and you'll find your answers. I did this when I joined last week and now know a lot more than I did before!

    X20DTH = DTi model pre 2001 (H=high pressure turbo)
    X20DTL = Di model pre 2001 (L=low pressure turbo)

    Y20DTH = DTi model 2001 onwards
    Y20DTL = Di model 2001 onwards

    From what I've gathered changing DTL to DTH is a whole pile of hassle and not advised. The general opinion seems to be if you want DTH engine in your motor then go and buy one that's already got it in!

    Snooze thanks for the reply.
    If its just a case of turbo, pump and injectors surely it should be worthwhile as breakers seem to want much more money for the later y20 engine.
    The x20 engine has a knackered pump in any case, one reason why the vehicle was scrapped.
    My research tells me that the compression ratios are the same @ 18.5 -1
    Injector pressure is higher on the high output engine and maybe the turbo and that is as far as I have got.
    Thanks again for the reply and a happy NY to all.

    It's not.

    Please read the old posts. There are plenty of them on this exact same subject.
