    Dreaded EML

    Morning all

Well I'm a t my wits end as to what to do with my Astra at the moment

Basically I've got a 1.4 16v Mk4 and I've got the EML on, Was suffering with stuttering engine aswell but thats sorted

I've done a few things, changed sparks for bosch iridium quad cores, changed air filter element and de resitrcted the Air box, checked ignition module thats fine and working, dismantled the throttle body and gave it a right good old clean and its spotless now and it doesnt stutter anymore.

So I did a hard ECU reset, and managed to get about 100 miles before it came back on again, no drop in performance at all or anything out of the norm.

Think I've done all I can do now Is it just going to be a case of getting down to vauxhall and get a diagnostics check? and get the codes? If so How much is it going to cost?

Any Info would be greatly appreciated

What age is your car? 2000 or earlier and you should be able to do the paperclip test, do a search on here for it.

You could always buy a scangage... I believe this gives you the error codes, along with lots of other usefull information. If not off to vauxhall for the tech2, about £50 IIRC but im sure someone on here will correct me.

Was also reading in other threads, that a hole in the exhaust will affect with lambda sensor and bring a fault up on the computer

I have got a slight hole in the mid silencer

Will that effect it in anyway?

http://www.scangauge.com/ is there site, Although I think most people on here buy them from E-Bay.

I "THINK" it gives you there error codes, so that you can see why your EML is on, But I would prefer someone verified that this will help you before you go ahead and buy one
