    Cambelt kit / servicing bits

Having just bought my latest mk4, the service history is patchy to say the least. The previous owner claims the belt was changed 6k ago, but I only have his word to go on - so I'll be getting it changed again for peace of mind. It also needs an oil/filter change etc.

I'm planning on doing this as cheaply as I can, buying the bits needed and getting my local garage to do the work.

I've checked out cambelt kits on eBay

Does this seem like a decent price? I'm guessing then I'll just need to pay for a couple of hours labour to get the work done.

I bought mine from there Steven, i thought it was a good price.

You have to pay via card over the phone, Got mine within 2 day's and i was very happy.

Why don't you have a go at changing the belt yourself mate?, i changed mine when i did my cam's and it was a peice of piss.

Obviously just a bit worrying at first but as long as the timing mark's match up you've nothing to worry about.

Good stuff, think I'll go for that then.

I fear fitting it myself might be a bit beyond me tbh. I can just about manage changing the air filter myself

Yeah, I'll definitely change the water pump as well.

I might just get it all from AV.. the only reason I was going to use eBay is I had £50 in my PP account.. but they don't take it!
