thats a dry bush for sure. Problem is finding out which one. You could take a look at them and see if any have any obvious marks on them where there is a lot of movement or bite the bullet and either change or lubricate them with red rubber grease. Always a tricky one to diagnose this problem

Yeah both my MK4's have done this. But now im getting a clunking noise from my passenger side every so often when I go over a speedbump or a little dip in the road.

Theres 2 areas to concentrate on

The most common is the anti-roll bar link rods - these are easy to replace and are a common failure on the mk4 - they are also an MOT failure if visibly worn.

Pattern replacements can be had from ebay or local motor factors for approx £20 a pair - heres an example: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ASTRA-G-98-04-...QQcmdZViewItem

But from experience I would strongly recommend u get some genuine ones...Ive bought twice from the seller above and the first set lasted about 8mths and the 2nd lasted about 4mths!
I decided to get some genuine GM ones which only cost £30 a pair (TRADE) - retail is £50 a pair but still worth it if u ask me.

For anyone that dont know what thwy look like....heres a picture

The second area to concentrate on is the anti-roll bar bushes themselves - these are just small sections of rubber that hold the ARB onto the front subframe - and again these do obviously suffer.

These can be had for about £10 from a local motor factor or approx £40+ from a dealer - personally I would just get the pattern parts for this as its just simply rubber and less components to fail unlike the more complex link rods.

Heres what these parts look like:

Theres one on ebay here: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Astra-Corsa-Ve...QQcmdZViewItem

Which the listing says is just for the 1.2 - Ive crossed reference and its the same part (Vx PN 90538865) which is fitted to every single Mk4 irrespective of engine size so the above bushes should fit....and for the sake of less than a tenner.... I know Id take the plunge.

You could of course just get some specialist grease and lube up all the above components and see how that fairs.
