    any plumbers???

    need so advice.

basically i want to replace all my old radiators with modern ones but i have a slight problem.
my current radiators are imperial and all new radiators are metric and as a result the new radiators wont fit.

Now im sure this must be a common problem so i went down to B&Q and Wicks to try and find an adaptor of some description that will sit between the new radiator and the TRV. but i couldn't find any thing, i found a few solder joints but i want to aviod cutting and soldering the existing pipes if possible.

So my question is does such a screw fit adaptor exist?

Hopefully someone will understand what i mean

Oh and yes, you can get spacers but you won't need them if you get the correct size rad.

Get your self down to your local Plumbcenter and get some Myson Roundtop rad's.

They're still sized in imperial so you will not need extention tail's.

But to answer your question, that is the kind of thing you need yes and they're adjustable to some degree, with a bit of cutting.

you can get radiator spacers.. these screw into the end of the radiator then the stump that goes into the radiator normally screws into this... this will only work tho if you get a radiator smaller than the existing pipework. you could of course try and find the same sized radiators but your probs find they will be dearer as metric radiators are the norm now. the spacers come in sizes of 20mm,30mm, 35mm,40mm,50mm iirc... but if your confident to adapt the pipework this would be your cheapest solution as the spacers arent cheap. your probably find that you will have to go to a plumbers merchants as your diy stores wont sell these. i am a plumber so this is from my knowledge and my use of them... there great for what you want. i will try and source you a pic so you know wat your looking for.

    cheers

    cheers guys.

i will pop down my local plumb center in the week.

I could modify the pipe work but just trying to look for the easiest solution. Plus i would have to aquire a blow torch, pipecutter etc.
