    VX radio facia and wiring

Today i picked up my facia for the Mk5 and as i was told, it comes complete with cables which it did,

my problem is that i have 4 wires that arent connected, 2 of the look like they came from the iso plugs but no idea which order they go back,

one is black and the other is red, and looks like they sit next 2 each other but no idea which way.

can anyone tell me which was they go and if needed i can take pics

    cheers

Is this a vauxhall facia kit, are they on the quadlock to iso conector?

    Pics would help me understand

I'll just move it to the Astra H forum to

Without knowing exactly what facia kit you have got and if this wiring is on the headunit you want to fit or the adaptor you have got it's hard for me to answer. The numbers you have given will help me out though

The number 30 referes to the battery so needs to go to a permament live
The number 15 referes to a ignition live so it's probably best to connect it up to the black wire at the ciggy lighter
The grey/yellow is for the lights/ illumination. TBH not many headunits use this so you could get away without connecting it, all that would happen is the radio won;t dim when the lights are on

Now i'd expect to see the thin black (15)and grey/yellow in the vauxhall loom bit but I can't understand why you would have the first red and black wires. Maybe if you explain exactly where they come out the plug, if it's the quadlock end or the ISO end or even on you new stereo's harness or a steerring wheel interface

    its hard to explain.

the vauxhall facia kit that you get from vauxhall part no. 93165012

the problems i am having is with the cable you get with the facia,

i have the red 30 wire and the black 15 wire which have came out of the power connector block not the sound one and i have 3 pin holes with out cables which are 2,4,7 hope this is better help,

if not i will take a picture tomorrow when it is lighter and i can use my camera on my phone

lisaclio this connector will have nothing to do with the steering wheel controls, just need to get to the bottom of these wires. If it was just the black number 15 then i'd understand it bit it's the red 30 thats got me stumped as it should just be inter connected from the quad lock part to the ISO. Then we have the grey/yellow wire

I'd expect there to be 3 spare pins in the power connector so the wires won't go there

the 30 red and the 15 black and the metal pins on the end, when i have looked at the sony ISO the yellow cable which is the continuos power suppy is pin number 4 , but the vax iso has nothing in pin number 4, so i am guess the red goes to the yellow, just not sure about that black
