    AMD remaps

Has anyone got any experience of these remaps? Big Boys Toys in essex (predominantly VAG tuners) offer AMD maps for the ZLET for £400 which works about £150 cheaper than anywhere else when you take into account petrol costs because they're only on my doorstep.

I haven't heard anyone mention these maps recently, just the older ones which caused the EML to come on?

Nearest tuner would be Thorney which are about a 90 minute drive away, worth the drive you reckon?

Read and learn - avoid like the plague, unless of course they have re-written the maps in the meantime.

Cheap is not always better, I had an AMD remap on my van, but given nothing really worked properly on the van tis hard to say. when it comes to tuning its usually better to pay extra for quality, its not like buying a tin of beans after all.

They all say they optimise on their rollers but, when courtaney did mine and it was down on power they blamed ever thing else but their map. And i said to them carn't you ajust some thing in the map and they said no every car gets the same. I'm not calling them i was still happy with it just though i would let you know

I had an AMD remap on my coupe turbo and it was awful. Boost was all over the place, and it wrecked my standard turbo after only 9,000 miles (turbo had only covered 21,000 miles!) They said they would not honour warranty because they had never heard of a turbo going before from one of their maps, so therefore must have been a dodgy turbo.

All I know is, ever since having the remap it run terribly. I now have a Courtenay map, so now realise what a remapped car should drive like. As said.. AVOID!
