Need a bit of help and advice here guys please.
My gf is having ultimate issues with british gas at the moment.. and theyre been arses.
She used to have a pre-paid meter, but in november this was changed to another pre-paid meter because the old one was too old/outdated. She didnt want another prepaid anyway, but they put one in.
Now shes rang up and said she no longer wants the prepaid one, as she wants non-prepaid (direct debit).
In november when they changed the meter, the account was clear. Now shes asked for it to be removed, theyre saying there is a debt on the account(£400). Now firstly you cant have a debt on prepaid, secondly THEY are saying "we know you've paid the money, we can see it, but basically our system has lost it/or lost the records of it" which is theyre messup, not hers.
So theyve admitted both they can see the payments and she has been paying them, and theyve lost the payments. So, their fault!
Now, since theyve put the new meter in, they set the tarif stupidly high, most likely the highest, so shes paying loads a week/month when shes not using it. and again, they cant change anything because of this alleged debt.
shes been on the phone for 3+ hours with them, messing around and got no where, shes a bit upset now because nothing can be done, and unsure what to do.
shes going to ring energywatch for some advice, but anyone got any ideas what to do on here :s
she cant change providers because that debt would be carried across and would be even harder to trace, even though shes not actually in debt.
