    Cdr500

    Hi,

I am going to change my CDR500 player for a Sony player, I want to give the original to my sister in law, however I dont have the code for it.
Does anyone know if the protection can be turned off without having the code? If indeed it hasnt already been switched off without me knowing.
    Thanks
    Dan

Not too sure about it but does the stereo display 'code' when you first power it up? I know some stereo's do this, but not too sure on yours.

Might help whoever actually has got an answer for you!

Alternatively, any main dealer will be able to find out for you from the database (I think)

No it cant you will need a code for it. If you can find the supplying dealer of the car it came out of they will often keep a note of the code on cars they sell. Failing that you can get one either from your local parts department (security pass will also include your immobiliser number & key number) or from some on-line code sites. Either will cost the same at around £25

Thanks for the info, I have already called the dealer and they said I would have to pay £20 - dont really want to do that!!
If I remove the radio from the dash, will the cables come out too or will it unplug the radio, just want to check if the code has been written on the radio - I know it defeats the object of having the code but you never know.

You can take the code off it but you need the code in order to do it lol.

if its coded (as per factory settings) then the red led will flash when ignition/stereo is off and SAFE will appear when you turn it on like gnasher said

i doubt it will say on the back mate (doesnt on mine), and the cable blocks are attached to the cage so when you take it out it will be in SAFE mode

Have you had a look in your owners pack, look for a little card that has the details of your engine number and other data. On this card you will find your security code.
