    insurance

    hi guys just got astra van for work and insurance co want me to prove what security system it has on it? its an x reg 1.7dti and has the standard astra alarm/immobiliser. how can i prove this without having to go to main dealer etc? cheers

    That must have been a optional extra having the alarm fitted to it as it wasn;t standard fit

    Maybe a car alarm company can confirm it and write out a certificate

    They should send you a conformation sheet with ure insurance certificate asking you the details of alarm, when/where fitted etc. I had to prove my FTO is CAT1, you dont always have to send a copy of the certificate, if it was factory fitted simply write that down as the date of manufacture.

    i thought all astra's had the alarm fiited ie if you break the window or open the door the alarm will go off and the transponder in the key is the immobiliser?

    No not all astra's have alarms, the immobiliser is in the key but thats it for some models, after market alarms can be fitted with what your refering to being ultrasonics which detect any movement.
