    starter motor or immobilser

    MK4 Golf GTi T

Recently, the Golf has been playing up. This morning, it refused to start?

I turned the key and all the lights on the dash come on fine. Go to turn the engine on and all I get is a constant ticking sound. Turn the key back, try again, but this time no ticking sound at all??

Anyone know about this sort of problem?

Had to go to work in my sisters car this morning.

Shounds like a dead battery and the ticking will be the starter relay trying to operate

I'd say it's just a flat battery to or possibly a starter

Sounds like the Battery is faulty,ie Bad Cell,
Although it could be the Starter Motor drawing to many amps.
If you're in the AA or the RAC,(CALL THEM OUT)it's an easy check for a mechanic, and it won't cost you anything to diagnose.
    Hope this helps

Hope it is not the battery, as it was changed about two months ago

The car is booked into VW for Monday. AA have also confirmed that they can come round to take a look and try to get the car started. If the car wont start, they can drop the car off for me at the dealers.

Hopefully, this wont an expensive fix.
