I thought so of you may be able to help me out with ideas on how to tackle my problem with ford. Here is a copy of my thread on the transit club forum (yes it does exsist - and its very good )
It really is sad to be saying this as I really hoped (and I was so very pleased with it) that the Mk7 was going to be a great van.
Problems I have had to date:
Auto lights turn off when low revs - fixed on recall
Recall on suspension strut - fixed on recall
Clutch pedal return snapped - required new clutch, flywheel, pedal box etc
Ignition key/remote fob - now on 6th key and not working again!
Sawing noise (EGR valve) - and no way that was there for the fist 20k miles - on back order still not fixed
Sliding door lock jamming
Constant rear caliper binding from the rear brakes - although ford tell me there is no noise!
Hand brake very sloppy
Constant stalling and no re-start for 3-4 mins - suspect EGR valve
Very sloppy clutch and juddering when high revs are required to get it up a small incline - suspected bad fitment of clutch
Very noisy rattling dash board from the front
Rubbers on Windscreen make lots of noise over 70 miles per hour
Clock lights turn off after driving for more than 1.5 hours or too hot from heaters.
Electric window stuck open on passenger side door - sticking contact, cleaned and now fine.
I could go on, and to be fair I would put up with a majority of them if the service from ford was even slightly helpful, and thats whats really getting me down. Current situation with the Van is as follows:
I took the van for a service 2k miles ago and it required some new pads. I got the van back and it drove fine for the fist mile or so but I got some binding whilst driving forward (always been reverse prior to them being changed). After the 3rd day it was getting no better so I rang up and was told they do it on the rear to 'bed' in, anyhow they got better for a little while then went very bad to dangerous over the space of a day or so - there were grinding quite bad at times when I got it to ford.
At this point the key fob had gone again, and the electric window had jammed open, and the van stalling constantly, along with the juddering clutch and over issues not solved in the past, I took the van in with a list to tell them to sort it. I picked the van up with work done, I was told by the service manager that all work had been done except for the EGR valve replacement (no stock) and the key (no stock). Then to really annoy me I was told there was nothing at all wrong with the brakes!! and nothing was reported or found!! So I told them what I thought and that it better be fixed/safe to drive. As I wa leaving he turned around and said 'oh and your rear disks are nearly gone' at which point I said you have only just changed the pads, why wasn't the disks reported then? He said he would look into it and have it sorted out by the time it came back for the EGR valve and key. So I booked it in for Tuesday (today) to get the remaining sorted.
I jumped in the van did about 5 miles and the brakes were perfect and the hand brake had become stiff again - so what ever was wrong had been fixed! Yet what annoys me know is that the disks are knackered and I am guessing its because of the badly fitted/wrong pads before by them!. Then to put the icing on the cake the engine management light come on the next morning!
So Tuesday has come along I went to drop the van off - they had no record of the van or the parts required. The manager that booked it in was due in any minute and he would have to sort it out. I was asked to take a seat and wait a short period - well without going on too much LOL I was there for 1 hour and 25 minutes being fobbed off by the people there. The manager never turned up and all of sudden one of them found my paper work!!
Great I think I can get my lift home now.........how wrong was I!!
The EGR Valve is on back order and the so is the key - again I get told the van is safe to drive and its now at home again! I was told the manager would give me a call with an update and a plan to get the van sorted and he hasn't phoned
So as you can tell I am totally pissed off, and I didn't buy a brand new van to have this sort of trouble (this is why I buy new vans as I need it on the road, when its off I am losing money!). Although the van is under warranty with Hire vans, taxis and wasted time I have worked it out that the Van owes me £800 and I have only owned the van since February this year.
So I am looking for some guideness on the bets plan of attack with them, and if I should just sell up and buy else where...
gutted and angry!
