Astra 1.8 16v CDX Traction Control

    I have purchased a 1.8 astra cdx

For some reason i do not have a traction control button in my astra to turn it on or off. In other CDX's there is a traction control button underneath the ashtray. shown here http://www.migweb.co.uk/forums/cars-...a-mk4-cdx.html

Why do i not have the button?

Also how do i find out if i have a newer 123 bhp engine or an older 113 bhp engine. All i no is the car was registered august 2001 but the car could have been made a couple of years before?

Also i have the NCDR 1500 Radio with sat nav and telephone. The radio works but repeats radio safe. Is there any way to access a menu where you can type the code?

    Thanks for your help

    Welcome mate

All MK4 astras with ABS have traction control, it's just that you don't get the option to turn it off on all the models. You can add the switch if you want to, there's a how to on this on the site

With yours being a august 2001 car i'd say its the later engine. I believe the easiest way to find out is see if you have a accelerator cable as the later engines don't have one

Finally to entre the code with the ignition switched on an the radio off press and hold the AS button on the headunit and switch the headunit on holding the button still until you hear a beep then use button 1 for the first number up to 4 for the last number then press and hold AS again to entre the code. It's been like this on all the vauxhall headunits i've come accross before

actually just thinking about it... my car handles like a shopping trolley as it is, I reckon turning the TC off would be even more dangerous

I wouldn;t worry to much about that right now, you know not to do it next time. If needed we can split it up and move part of the thread over

The only thing I can find in my owners manual that covers the NCDR 1500 is that if any problem arises or the display shows SAFE contact vauxhall. I'll try to look through my manual some more later though

    I have a 1999 "V" 1.8 16v CDX
    this has switchable TC ,
as has been said on many threads in differant forums
the early 1.8 pulls exactly the same as the later 1.8
even though they have differant bhp on paper
they both go very well and equaly good on fuel ,
my astra has a sports automatic box
i find it very smooth, quiet and very nippy
