    Unhappy interior light mystery

    Hi all,

im hoping someone may be able to shed a little light on this issue for me.

When i pulled in to my work car park this morning and got out of my car (astra coupe turbo), while walking away i noticed that the interior light had not turned off, i waited with the car for 5 mins or so and still it was on, so i took out the bulbs for a quick fix with work calling, so ive been back out for an hrs lunch break and popped the bulbs back in as i left straight away the interior lights turned on and will not switch off, it stays on constantly while im driving and when i switch the ignition off.

I have now disconected the whole interior light unit as the last thing i want is for it to flatten my battery.

Im just wondering if anyone here has had a simily issue or can shed any light on the subject for me.

Just to add i have checked both the pins in the doors which cancel the light when you close them.

Many thanks in advance for any help.

i have opened and shut all doors and boot and made sure they are completly shut, i thought maybe one of the pins in the doors may have been stuck. but afraid not. i cant think of anything else other than maybe the circuit board in the interior light may have packed up ?

Door switch broken or you've pulled the headlight switch out a bit. (which turns on your interior lights).

interior switch pulled out would be the next thing to try.

did you notice was the light on when you were still in the car? or did it come on when you opened the door to get out?

could you have pulled the switch out when you turned your lights off upon arrival?

My missus made me phone Vauxhall after she had the same problem in her Corsa.
So now I'm going to give you the same advise I gave her READ THE MANUAL!
She made me feel like a complete pillock phoning Vauxhall and the bloke on the other end says is the headlight switch pulled out? I was like please let it be a faulty ECU not a simple switch .

Glad it was sorted mate. Happy motoring
