    Question Engine Bay ideas

    Hi,

Im not familiar with the engine bay of my GSi and couldnt name most of the parts but i have been looking at it recently and thinking that it needs 'doing up' a bit.
The OPC cover and the Courtenay blue pipe were done by the previous owner. I have looked at a couple of sites and they list that a full set of blue hoses will be about £210 . I dont really have that kind of money to spend on hoses tbh.
Here is how it looks now:

In this image i have circled the bits i want to change for now:

Could someone help me identify these bits and also recommend what i can do with them!.

    Thanks
    Nick

The crossover and top hat (the metal pipes that are coated) can be sanded down and polished up, thats what most people have done.

The 3 other pipes circled (2 airbox hoses + breather hose), there isn't much you can do apart from replace them with silicone pipes

See my post earlier today, I have replaced and polished a few of the bits you have circled + sprayed my rocker cover. http://www.astraownersclub.com/vb/sh...d.php?t=124714

Ok is it hard to sand down and paint the crossover and top hat?. What primer/paint should be used?.

Also what are those hoses exactly?. Courtenay list a whole load but i dont know what im looking for!.

    Thanks

1st off they need that plastic stuff striped off them with something like nitromors, then start sanding with wet and dry, gradually using finer grades of paper to create a smooth finish. Then either polish up or spray them, the same you would spray other parts.

As above the hoses are airbox hoses (airbox to AFM and AFM to crossover) and oil breather
Normally airbox hoses come as a set of 3 and the 3rd pipe is the small peice of silicone that joins the crossover to the turbo.

I have done pretty much everything you want to change except for the oil breather pipe on the front of the block, been meaning to order 1 now for ages!

    Ok cool.
I have found a 3 hose kit on Regal:
    http://www.regal-shop.co.uk/acatalog...Hose_Kits.html

However i have courtenay on the blue pipe so i dont really want to start putting different names all over it!.

The courtenay site just lists some hoses but no picture. Im thinking that item number CS AG/TB3 from this page http://www.courtenaysport.co.uk/inde...ewDoc&docId=79 are the ones im after

Thanks for the help and info

Thats the one, as well as CS BH which is the breather hose.

The top 4 hose kit for £149 is likely to include the boost pipe which you already have.
Best off ringing them to order it though to make sure you get what you want, as descriptions are a bit vague on the site.

    Why are they so expensive!.

I rang courtenay and they are not open weekends

If i bought the airbox hoses and then tried to get the pipe from the bottom of the crossover seperate would this be alot of hassle?

    Thanks
