    Private Plate info

I have got a private plate for my dad, and I want to get it on the car. I have the document of the DVLA to say I have got it from them, now all I need to do is go to a local DVLA office to change the TAX disk, update records, and fit the new plate once done.

My question is, can I do this on his behalf? As I am not the registered keeper and my name is not on the paper work can I still do it?

I wanted to get this doen before he gets back of his holiday if possible? I can get all the releverant paper work from his house.

    cheers for any gen?

I would of thought so, because anyone can tax the vehicle even if they arent the registered owner, so i would assume the number plate would be the same

that was sort of how I was thinking - Car sales men or dealers can assign plates to cars, or take them off before a sale goes through can they not?

Yes, so as long as you have the correct paper work etc to prove you are allowed to have the plate then i cant see you having a problem.

Yes you can ... you need

    V5
DVLA Paperwork for the new plate
    Tax Disc

Plus you need to fill out a form iirc but this is at the office

Don't take the tax disc. You should only need to put the serial no. from it on the form then they post the new one out to you. Well that's how it worked for me anyway.

when I changed my plate they did the disk there and then (it was some time ago though and at a the main birmingham DVLA office), it may depend on the size of the office?
