    Removing front seats

How do I remove the front seats and without setting off the pre-tensioners?

disconnect the battery and leave it off for a minute or two so that the capacitor discharges fully, before going anywhere near it. also keep your keys out of and away from the ignition until you have got them plugged back in completely (obviously I mean once the battery is reconnected after the work has been done).

No need to even do that - leave the car standing (preferably over night) and just don't turn the ignition on till you're done

So is it the same as if I was removing the airbag from the steering wheel?

On the Corsa there were 2 red tags that needed to be inserted so you didnt need to let them discharge. Does the Astra not have these?

older corsas and astras have mechanical pretensioners - hence the locking clips to stop them going off. Mk4's have electrically triggered ones so there no need for the clips
