    Why does my exhaust stick out so much and look very low

    that's a sweeping generalisation!!

    to answer the question - yeah, it does look too low and too far out for an Irmscher pipe. It might need some adjustment to get it to sit right

    It defo looks like an Irmscher from the shape of the tailpipes, and you should have one fitted to your 2.2 as standard straight from the factory, but I'm erring towards thinking it might have been replaced at some point for a coupe one, which is longer

    On the mk4 is there a rubber holding the back box up? Maybe worth replacing it

    It looks like the rubbers have either stretched, broken or the back box has come off it rubbers to me.

    Have a peek under to have a look at their condition. If they are fine it would suggest that either the hangers are needing adjusted or their is a problem with the centre secion pushing the fitment up and the tail pipe down. Can you get a picture of it from lower down and closer to the bumper and also a side view.

    The rubbers on the back box would be your first point to check anyway, also check the condition of the back box to centre section fitment.
