    Diesel Alternator Pricing

my alternators now packing up and had it tested , the batterys putting out ok, but the alternators just working by doing something like 12v the motor factors said, as the battery light came on over the weekend and i lost the PAS as it shuts it down ive read on here .

my local motorfacors have quoted me £355.98 inc vat for a new/recon alternator and if i supply my old one too i get £130 back so 225 really is what id be paying, something to do with the fact its aircon and got an vaccum pump ?

seems well feckin expensive to me , but it maybe right, saw a recon jobby on ebay for £110 posted is it worth going with one of them do you think, looks a pig to fit as well. so may have to lob it in a garage

any thoughts comments ? other places to try

They are expensive but check with vauxhall mate.. i had mine go a year ago on my 1.7DTi and its the same thing, you give them the old one back, but it wasnt as expensive as that thou i dont think. Try and blag trade club aswell, think that gets it a bit cheaper again!
They are more expensive than others due to 1. them being an izuzu part not vaux (so vaux have to buy them off izuzu) and 2. them having an inbuilt oil pump.
    Hope this helps

ive managed to source one at a reasonable price new with a 12 month warranty, just got to work out now whether iam going to fit it or get my bud in his unit to do it - seems a pig to do with the aircon pump been right above it
