OK so following on from one of my previous threads
I've applied today for another job...
now its more than double my current wage, and its a big step up the career ladder, but after chatting with the woman who's (hopefully) going to be my boss on the phone for 40 minutes today when I only rang up for an application form, I'd like to think I've got a decent chance at it..
now the thing that makes me think twice, is the post duration. Its a "temporary" vacancy, but its a 3 year post. Now in my mind temporary conjours up contracts being a matter of weeks, not years. I'm now getting second thoughts on going through with it in case I get 3 years down the line when the contract's up, and find myself out on my ear job-hunting again.
does anyone have any experience of these sort of "temporary" posts? whats likely to happen after 3 years? the woman wasn't sure on the phone, she said that the lottery funding was for 3 yrs. so does that mean if the project can be made to be sustainable the role will be made permanent?
any thoughts what might be the next step up the employment ladder AFTER the above role too? I'm not sure there's much career progression being a project manager for Adult Social Services, especially as its a niche post (food and fitness)... but I'm open to being proved wrong
