You first need to download i-tines /Quicktime which I wouldnt recommend at work.

Once you are in I-tunes, you then need to click the drop-down menu at the top of the screen titled 'store' and select 'authorise computer'. This is due to the end user licence agrement on the music you have purchased through I-tunes.

Then select 'Sync i-pod' from the File menu and Roberts your fathers brother.

Also bear in mind that i-tunes will only let you Sync with 5 computers at any one time (or is it 3? someone correct me if not)

Hey mate, i dunno about the method above because i never had an ipod (never liked em) but i did spend alot of time fixing them for extra cash, and it was an all too common question about how to get the music off.
In my experience, the easiest thing to do was to use a piece of free software called Ephpod, very useful for tonnes of other stuff to do with the ipod, and easy to use.

    Have a looksee: http://www.ephpod.com

Im not sure why Ephpod is asking for an apple account, what exactly do you mean?

If you do find that ephpod is abit long winded, ive heard good things about Sharepod, which is JUST for copying music

    Sharepod: http://www.sturm.net.nz/website.php?...&Page=SharePod

The is a guide on how to use it if you scroll down

If you want to stick with ephpod though, explain your problem a little more

the apple account piece was trying it IainL way, have used EphPod, and it has only recognised some of the songs for some reason, and it wont explain why.

will give that other one a try

Apple have blocked transferring files from your iPod to your computer.

I used this tutorial a while ago when I wanted to transfer from my iPod to my computer and it worked very well (didn't take too long either).

show hidden folders on your computer, DO NOT open itunes with it,a s it will want to delete the songs on it..

there should be a folder that is something like _store on your ipod (a hidden folder)

then a selection of random folders

copy those accross to your computer, and it should backup the mp3s off your ipod.

to organise them use itunes inbuilt functions to copy and put all artists and albums into folders to keep them neat on your computer then delete what you copied over on your computer...

you should have a nicely organised music folder on your computer thanks to itunes now.

worked for me a couple of times in the past.
