    CD30 vs CD30 MP3

Guys, a friend of mine bought a twintop design with cd30mp3 7-speaker system, it has 9-stations and i think is the grundig.

i ve bought my gtc a month after him (1 month ago from now) with CD30 grundig as well, same face same everything, but with differences:

    mine doesnt play MP3's
    no CD-TEXT available
    sound sucks.

ive change the 4 speakers to the best speakers i could find in the local market and it made a vey small different in quality but no difference on low/mid-range. i dont know.

What do you know about that?

If i buy a used CD30 Mp3 from ebay (blaukpunt or siemens vdo) will it make any difference from my current or shall i see my other options such as adding an amplifier or replacing HU.

If you buy a used/second hand CD30 Mp3, then the unit has to be decoded from the original car it was fitted to...then re-programmed to your car.

Fair amount of mucking around....certainly a theft deterrent...

In my opinion, you're always gonna be compromised by any standard stereo, and i'd advise on getting a new aftermarket head unit.
The difference in signal coming out should make a huge difference.

CD text is not available on most retail CDs, my last astra 55 plate had cd30 which would play CD text ok, but the disc has to have it coded. All my backup CDs have CD text, used nero to burn them with CD text option turned on, itunes also has option for burning with CD text.

As Coo said, the stereo has to be tech2'd out of the donor car, if not its an expensive paperweight.

If you want to keep a standard look then get a new one from Vauxhall, I think they are about £100 ish but then needs coding in and the old one coded out if you want to sell.

Buying one from ebay is pure pot luck, the seller could say it was coded out but would you trust every seller?!

Sound quality will be increased if you buy a decent aftermarket unit. Kenwood do a really good one that has cd text and plays mp3's and is under £100, just need to get the fascia adaptor, steering wheel controls and off you go!
