    EGR Valve - Sheffield

    Hi

I've been quoted £160 from a Vauxhall dealer to supply and fit the EGR valve, am I being ripped off and if so, does anyone know where I can buy one from and maybe get a friend to fit it. Are they easy to fit and is there a step-by-step guide on the web?

    Cheers
    Laura

Try Ebay there is usually loads on there going from around £20 up to about £65 brand new. Not sure about other models but i have a 1.6 SXI 03 reg (Engine z16XE) and it was very very easy to fit you take the top cover off and undo 2 torx screws. lift out the old one, put in new one (With a new Gasket).

I have a 2001, 1.6, petrol engine, does that help with giving a cost for an EGR valve?! I hate how garages think they can rip you off.

Thanks for all the help and advice.

most garages make a good mark up on parts they buy in and most people are to lazy to do the leg work to find out what is needed themselfs
imo if you can be bothered to find out for yourself good on you and save a few of your hard earned pounds but if you cant be bothered i think its fair you have to pay the priveladge for being lazy

Just buy the part and hopfully somone can help you fit it, you could even do it yourself its that easy, just get a hold of a torq bit and a ratchet and change everything over.

If I was closer I would help you out so come on fellow AOC people someone must be close enough they help out and fit it.

2001 i'm pretty sure that would make it a z16xe (some will be on to confirm for you)

the x16xel is the older engine
z16xe is the newer euro4 engine

    both 1.6 16V units

also found you some egr valves on ebay

    Z16XE Unit

    X16XEL Unit
