    VXR spare wheel

Has anyone put a proper wheel in the wheel well on their vxr. I've just got a puncture and don't want to use the tyre weld repair on the wheel. I'm now thinking of putting a spare wheel in the boot but was wondering what size to put in. I think a spare 19" alloy would be too wide and not fit properly. Any ideas anyone?

They dont come with them, but a space saver could work. Not sure they do them for the 19" equipped cars though !

OPC (VXRs) cars get the option of a spare wheel in germany -- just a 17"

Remember you'll also have to start carrying a jack (which you dont get)...and wheel wrench.

I could not believe what I've just read- no jack or wheel wrench!!! Been down the garage and just checked. I'm shell shocked. I could have sworn I saw these when I picked my car up. It looks like I have some sort of compresser and a tub of gunk!! I havn't opened any packaging to read any of the instrutions yet but I take it this should be enough for one wheel only. One last query, will the tyre be ok with this substance in to make a lasting repair by a tyre firm?

    Nope, tyre is fecked.

It's also a nightmare to get off the alloy.

    .... it's still a great drive though

The gunk stuff should last to get you either home, or to a tyre place.
It's quite a good idea in principle, means you have to get a new tyre straight away...

    Astra Vxr-lack Of Spare Wheel

Only had my VXR a week and have read and agree with the comments regarding lack of spare wheel. My wheels are the 19in variety. Can a smaller steel wheel be used for 'getting me home' purposes but without doing any damage to the car?
Has anyone already done this? If so what size was the wheel and from which car did the steel one come please because I assume you have to have one with the correct number of wheel stud holes.
    Thanks in anticipation.

    Cheers
