    Vista > XP Pro

    Vista Sucks!

    Its official, Al said so.

Vista Basic came with the laptop and at first I thought I would give it a go to see what it like. Over time, I have tried to install various software on it, but something always goes wrong during the install. A lot of the time, it is compatibility issues.

I now have a copy of XP Pro and all the XP drivers and utilities for my make of laptop. The query I have is the bios? you see, on the website where I downloaded all the XP drivers, their is a zip file which contains the bios setup. When I kill off vista and put XP back on, will I need to install the new bios too?

Shouldn't do because the BIOS is totally seperate from the OS.

most likely its a BIOS update for your particular make of laptop, XP should work without it, but i think it would be more efficient with it mate. I'd install XP then run the bios update. or you can install them from the vista install before you kill it.

I use XP pro on my laptop with the vista Aero glass theme on it, so i get the best of both worlds.

Vista blows. Not in the good way either. Only reason you'd want to use it is if you're interested in the DX10-only games.

Al you won't need to change any bios settings or anything like that - worry not. Xp Pro will run a lot better than Vista on any low end to mid range system - fact.

personally I've grown to like Vista and use it because of DX10 gaming.

Having a bit of trouble here.

Normally, I would go into the bios and change the boot sequence, so the pc boots from CD. In this case, the XP disc. Then I install the OS from there. However, on vista, i press f2 to go into the settings, but it does not give me the option to change the boot sequence? so I tried the other way of loading up the system and run the .exe file from the CD through explorer. However, this time, I get a message cannot run as the version of windows on the disc is older than what I have installed on the laptop

What other methods can I use

Try tapping F10 when you turn on the laptop, sometimes you get a boot option screen..

    What make/model is the laptop..

Vista is possibly the worst OS ever invented. Seriously, until they fix the major issues that plague it, I won't be going near it, certainly not paying for it anyway.

The only time I plan on using Vista is when I get games that support DX10 like Crysis and Alan Wake, even then I'll be using a cracked copy with dual boot so I can still use XP.

Vista is like a Dyson, they realy suck just not the way intended.

    Have you tryed
    DEL,
    ESC,
    F10
    F11
    F8
    to access Bios?

Personally use linux and enjoy the world of free realible software.

The only time ill use vista is when Ill have to fix it !
